Our Products
Lithium mineral – Petalite
Petalite, is an aluminium phyllosilicate mineral and a member of the feldspathoid group. The mineral finds usages mostly in technical applications within the glass, glass-ceramics ceramics, frits and glaze industries. Bikita Minerals produces the below main qualities of Petalite:
• Standard Grade Petalite / STD grade
• High Alkali Petalite / HAP grade
• Glass Grade Petalite / GGP grade
For further details on Petalite please go to our “Contacts” page and send us an email to the relevant email address. We look forward to hearing from you.
Tantalite
The mineral Tantalite is the main source of Tantalum (Ta), which is a high-value metal that is
generally mined from alluvial deposits in Central Africa. Bikita has an very rich hard-rock deposit of Tantalite (Ta-contents in excess of 450g/t) and has erected a pilot plant to recover it.
As a Zimbabwean operation Bikita Minerals also enjoys a conflict-free status. After the scheduled plant upgrades in late 2018 the mine will be poised to become one of the largest producers of conflict-free Ta2O5 in the world.
Bikita currently exports Tantalite to the People’s Republic of China.
Projects & Developments
Lithium mineral – Spodumene
Spodumene is a lithium aluminium inosilicate mineral. Spodumene is the primary source of lithia for
lithium carbonate and lithium hydroxide, which is used in lithium batteries.
Tech-grade Spodumene is also used in technical applications in the glass, glass-ceramics, ceramics, frits and glaze industries.
Furthermore, lithium hydroxide is used in the manufacturing of special industrial lubricants.
Bikita Minerals is currently proving up a Spodumene resource with the goal of producing an NI43-101 compliant resource before the end of 2018.
